Specific reason for increasing cost
The original water supply scheme was constructed during the year 2003–04, with a design period of 15 years as per the approved Detailed Project Report (DPR). As of now, the design period has been exceeded by approximately 6 years, leading to significant deterioration of infrastructure and a noticeable decline in system efficiency.
During its initial implementation, the scheme was designed based on a stand post-type water distribution system, which was suitable for the population and demand at that time. However, this approach is now inadequate to meet current water demand and service expectations, especially considering the growth in population and changes in usage patterns.
Currently, the scheme has remained non-functional for the last 2–3 years, primarily due to multiple leakages observe
